Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch e-voucher-based digital payment solution e-RUPI through video conferencing on Monday (August 2).

Tech786: The PMO said in a statement that e-RUPI will be one of the programs launched in the last several years for the government and the beneficiary. This will ensure that the benefits reach the beneficiaries in a leak proof manner.

What is e-RUPI?

e-RUPI is a cashless and contactless instrument for digital payments. It works in the form of an e-voucher based on a QR code or SMS string, which is delivered to the mobile phones of the beneficiaries.

E-Rupi connects the sponsors of services with the beneficiaries and service providers in a digital manner without any physical interface. Also, it also ensures that payment is made to the service provider only after the transaction is completed.

Being prepaid, it pays the service provider on time without any intermediary involved. The one time payment mechanism of e-Rupee allows users to redeem vouchers without having to use a card, digital payment app or internet banking access.

Who Developed e-RUPI Platform?

Explain that the e-Rupee platform has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It also has collaborations with the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Health Authority.
