Tech786: Sensor Tower Annual: According to a report by app analyst firm Sensor Tower, worldwide spending on mobile apps on Google Play and Apple App Store reached $ 407.6 million (about Rs 2,988 crore) by Christmas Day this year. It has increased by 34.5% compared to 2019 on a year-on-year basis. It had $ 303 million (about Rs 2,221 crore) last year. Most spending on Christmas was spent on gaming apps.
This year on Christmas, users worldwide spent up to 17.7% on mobile apps compared to year-on-year. Over Christmas, $ 295.6 million (about Rs 2,165 crore) was spent on apps. In 2019 Christmas, $ 232.4 million (about 1,702 crores) was spent on apps.
Spent heavily in the entertainment category
Entertainment had a category that generated the most revenue outside of the game on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. According to the report, entertainment on the Apple App Store reached $ 19.3 million (about Rs 141.3 crore) on app, or 21.8% of all non-game spend. At the same time, the category generated $ 4.3 million (about Rs 31.48 crore) or 18.5% of all revenue on the Google Play Store.
Spending on non-gaming apps increased by 4.2%
Users spent $ 112 million (about Rs 820 crore) on non-gaming apps. In 2019, $ 70.5 million (about Rs 516 crore) was spent. That is, there was a growth of 59% over the previous year. Censor Tower said that total spending on non-gaming apps increased by 4.2% on Christmas this year.
Highest spend on games
People spent the most on the Honor of Kings game of Tencent Games over Christmas. According to the report by Sensor Tower, the multiplayer online Battle Arena game (MOBA) grossed $ 10.7 million (about Rs 78.3 crore). It registered a growth of 205.7% over the previous year. It earned $ 3.5 million (about 25.6 crore rupees) on the same day in 2019.
