Japanese major vehicle manufacturer Toyota has launched the fifth generation model of its 14 seater MPV Hiace in India. However, the company globally sells its 6th generation model which was launched in the year 2018.

Tech786: The legendary Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar has launched its 5th-generation 14-seater MPV Hiace in India. However, the company globally sells the 6th generation models of Hiace. It has been launched in India with the MPV CBU (Completely Built Unit). Apart from this, customers can buy this 14 seater car in two color options white and silver. It is worth noting that only a few of its units will be available for sale in India.

The MPV has a seating arrangement of 14 adult passengers and AC vents will be seen on all the seats and in its last row, the seat fold has been given some extra luggage space. The Toyota Hiace is a passenger-friendly vehicle rather than a feature-packed, modern van. Talking about its specification, the Hiace is equipped with 2-DIN audio system, power steering, power sliding rear doors, fabric seat, power window, rear defogger and halogen headlamp with aux and USB connectivity. Its price in India has been fixed at Rs 55 lakh ex-showroom.

In terms of safety, the Toyota Hiace gets two airbags, ABS and EBD in the front. Talking about the interior of this MPV, no high tech technology has been used in the car. Its interiors are quite simple. However, good fabric has been used on passenger seats of Hiace. Talking about the front, the option of recline will be available in the driver seat. The design of the car from outside is boxy.


Talking about the power of this passenger vehicle of Toyota, a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder turbo-diesel motor is being given in it, which is also seen in the company’s full size SUV Fortuner. However, the maximum torque of 204bhp and 420Nm is available in MT variants in the Fortuner. While its automatic variant is capable of generating peak torque up to 500Nm. While the Hiace is capable of generating peak torque of 151hp and 300Nm, this MPV comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
