- WhatsApp Could Soon Launch Audio and Video Call Features for Desktop users ‘WhatsApp Web’
Tech786: To provide convenience to its users, WhatsApp is rolling out new features daily. According to a report, WhatsApp may soon offer audio and video calls on WhatsApp Web (desktop version). Messaging app WhatsApp is testing the ability to make video and audio calls in the web and the feature is currently in beta phase. However, this feature has been released only for a small number of users, so beta testers who do not receive it will have to wait a bit longer.
The report states that- “WhatsApp is rolling out beta calls for some specific users but unfortunately, due to being a beta feature it is available to very few people. We hope you are lucky, but if If not, don’t worry: every day more users are getting this activation and currently, WhatsApp is a high priority for the desktop. “
Audio-video call Features for WhatsApp web- Know how it will work?
The website has also shared screenshots of the audio and video call feature for WhatsApp Web, which hints that the audio and video call icons will be present in the chat header. The incoming call will open in a separate window where users will have the option to accept or reject it. The company has not given any clarification as to when it will be rolled out widely, but it can prove to be quite useful for users whenever it is rolled out.
Till now, only WhatsApp app supports audio and video calling, which means that users can not use this feature on their desktop when logged into the web version. Meanwhile, icons are available for the top right side audio and video calls of the chat header in the messaging app. Both audio and video calls support up to eight participants.
Although there is no clarity on it yet, the company can do something similar for WhatsApp Web. Of course, we will have to wait for the official launch to find out more.
Audio and video calls through WhatsApp Web will make it easy for people to chat right from their desktop. This can happen especially in a situation where most people are working from home due to COVID-19 as they do not need to make audio and video calls for their smartphones. In particular, most of the functions of the app are already available for the web version.
